Wrexham target Jamie Vardy may only leave Leicester City to move abroad
Wrexham could yet add another vastly experienced player to their ranks this summer in Jamie Vardy, whose future at Leicester City remains very unclear.
Wrexham could be poised for another busy and potentially expensive summer transfer window if they secure a third-straight promotion, and add themselves to the Championship roster for 2025/26.
The Dragons sit in 2nd place of the League One table with two games to go after Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 on Monday to leapfrog Wycombe Wanderers who are now back in 3rd.
And ahead of the summer transfer window, Jamie Vardy has been mentioned alongside a possible move to the Racecourse. The 28-year-old former England striker is out of contract this summer and his future a Leicester City is uncertain.
The Foxes have been relegated from the Premier League. It’s been suggested that Wrexham could move for Vardy this summer, but he could yet be offered a new deal having scored an impressive seven goals in 31 Premier League games for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side this season.

An emerging report from The Sun has revealed more about Vardy’s future at the King Power. Their report states that Vardy might only leave the club to move abroad given his allegiance to Leicester City, having been with the club for 12 years and approaching his 500th game as a Foxes player.
The Sun also state that the ongoing uncertainty over Van Nistelrooy’s future is a factor. Vardy could wait to see what happens there before deciding whether or not he wants to stay, amid interest from the MLS ahead of his contract expiring in June this summer.
Wrexham already have an ageing frontline. The 38-year-old Steven Fletcher is out of contract this summer though, whilst January signing Jay Rodriguez, who’s 35, is under contract for the 2025/26 season.
