Harry Toffolo plans revealed at Nottingham Forest after impressive display vs Tottenham

Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham to go back to third place in the Premier League and maintain their quest to reach the Champions League next season.

The Reds won the game courtesy of two goals in the opening 16 minutes through Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood, with Tottenham losing for the eighth time on home soil this season.

Forest raced out of the blocks in this one, with Nuno Espirito Santo opting to deploy an intriguing team selection that seemed to bamboozle Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Reds dipped into their squad resources for the trip to Tottenham, and it paid dividends, with a couple of players showcasing their worth to the head coach ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wembley.

Nuno Espirito Santo hails Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo

The Forest left-back was a surprise choice on the team sheet when it was announced ahead of kick-off, with the defender not starting a game before last night this season.

Toffolo was immense throughout the contest and his clearance off the line in the second half really was fantastic and gave Forest the catalyst to kick on and claim a big victory.

After the game, Espirito Santo was quizzed on the decision to put Toffolo into his team and he praised the heroics of the defender during the match against a struggling Tottenham.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Not only that. We have been talking a lot since the beginning of the season about the importance of the squad.

Even though a player doesn’t start, I still believe he is going to play a part. And Harry did it.

“We are going to need them all. We are going to go to Wembley with players out and we have to find solutions, so every player in the squad has to commit himself to give a hand. Harry did it and did fantastic.”
