Rangers takeover ‘secured’ with hold up explained ahead of San Francisco 49ers announcement
Rangers’ season ended the moment that James Tavernier switched off at the back post and let Nico Williams seal Athletic Club’s progress to the Europa League semi-finals.
There are five, potentially torturous, games to go until the end of the Scottish Premiership season with pride being scant consolation for what fans have had to endure throughout a dismal campaign.
The light at the end of the tunnel comes in the shape of the San Francisco 49ers takeover of the club.
A May timeline for the 49ers to take control looks to be on track and the summer could well see a new powerbroker in charge at Ibrox.
There is still a gap in the shape of a permanent Rangers manager, however, according to Chris Jack at The Rangers Review, there is good news.
Rangers takeover picks up pace with one hurdle left
With an information vacuum, speculation has been rife in recent weeks, but Jack, a well respected voice on all things Rangers, has said that there is nothing to worry about:
“Talks have been ongoing since October to get enough shareholders on board to ensure that the 51 per cent mark can be reached after a new funding issue,” a source told Jack.
“The 51 per cent is secured, it is only the legals and regulatory approvals that are holding things up.”
The takeover and incoming influence of the 49ers Enterprises group is a good thing, the problem is that everything appears to be on hold until it is confirmed.
What is going on behind the scenes at Rangers?
Patrick Stewart wants a sporting director in place before a manager is appointed.
The technical director of the 49ers Enterprises Gretar Steinsson is said to helping Rangers find a manager, given that the club will come under their sporting umbrella.
