Hammers’ hierarchy decide on punishment for Fullkrug’s rant
Live on sky sports, Niclas Fullkrug told it like it was and blamed his West Ham team mates squarely for backing off and not carrying out the manager’s game plan as the Hammers surrendered their goal advantage instead of pushing on for a second goal to kill the game off.
Likely to be controversial, Fullkrug’s rant contained expletives and and an admission of the striker being’ very angry’ over the team’s performance. Many have been reprimanded by their team for speaking out – if Niclas’ rant could be described a’speaking out”- but reported this afternoon by the telegraph.co.uk, Fullkrug’s outburst has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons at London Stadium.
West Ham hierarchy sympathise with Niclas Fullkrug’s rant about team-mates-German striker will not face any punishment for describing side’s performance as ‘s—’ after they squandered victory against Southampton”
Which is a staggering admission that the board directors are in agreement with a player over the performance of the team and agree with his language- indeed many of them probably wish they could voice exactly the same verdict: After all, it was s**t.
The Telegraph continues:
“However, the club fully support Potter and have been hugely impressed by his work on the training ground and behind the scenes. But there is frustration at how West Ham have dropped points late on in games, with Southampton scoring in the 93rd minute to salvage a draw. “
Having appointed Potter just three months ago after firing his predecessor, they could hardly say anything else. Another sacking at this stage of the season would destroy any hope West Ham have of having a successful transfer window: Having fired Tim Steidten and his team, the Hammers are totally reliant upon Potter and Macaulay to head the recruiting.
