Leicester city has finally terminated  Bilal El Khannouss contract deal with club few minutes ago…

Ruud van Nistelrooy may believe that Bilal El Khannouss is “definitely one for the future of this club” but falling into the Championship would cast doubt over the Leicester City playmaker’s stay at the King Power Stadium.

Van Nistelrooy has named El Khannouss in every Premier League starting line-up of his tenure and the Moroccan has been one of the bright spots in a woeful campaign.

City could be relegated before they kick off against Liverpool this weekend, but if not, they have to beat the title favourites to hold off confirmation of a return to the Championship.

It’s another big opponent for El Khannouss to thrive against and he is the kind of player who can carry City into a more positive future, the manager insists.

He’s not afraid to challenge the big teams in the league,” van Nistelrooy said. “He did very well in the home game (against Manchester City). He’s young, he came into the Premier League this season. He’s developing really well.

“He’s looking to add to his numbers. It’s a matter of time, the goals and assists, there are still games for him to add to those numbers.

He’s a hard worker, he wants to improve. He’s very young still. He’s one definitely for the future of this club, to bring the club forward.

But if and when City are relegated, El Khannouss’s future will come under closer scrutiny. It was only a few months ago that van Nistelrooy was touting the 20-year-old’s potential to play in the Champions League, and so a season in the Championship would feel at odds with the talent he has and the heights he could reach.

He is one of the club’s most valuable assets. However, to balance the books, City would need to make a significant profit on him as far as Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) go.
