Nottingham Forest holding crunch Gibbs-White talks after Man City latest’

Nottingham Forest are set to hold crunch talks with Morgan Gibbs-White about his future at the club amid interest from Man City.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Forest want the 25-year-old to commit to a new contract.

As a result, they are prepared to do everything possible to convince him to stay and are hopeful Champions League qualification will swing his decision in their favour.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man City will hold preliminary talks with Forest to assess what it would take to land the midfielder.

Pep Guardiola is said to have been impressed by Gibbs-White’s performances at the City Ground and he would represent a different style to the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne.

The midfielder has made 31 appearances across all competitions, scored five goals and provided nine assists and has impressed the watching City scouts.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted Forest will do all they can to keep their star man at the City Ground next season.

“They’re definitely going to offer him a new deal,” he told Football Insider.

I think they’ll sit down with him in the next few weeks to get the ball rolling and determine where he sees his future.

“If they had to go out tomorrow and find a replacement, how much would that cost them?
