‘I’m convinced’: Soon-to-be free agent urged to return to England after being linked with Leeds United
Daniel Farke looks like he is going to get Leeds United back into the Premier League at the second attempt and save his job at Elland Road, with The Whites five clear of third place.
Whatever happens in the next four matches will determine what happens this summer. Failure to go up and Leeds will have to do what they did last summer, selling their best players to balance the books.
The likes of Illan Meslier, Ao Tanaka, Willy Gnonto, Pascal Struijk, Patrick Bamford and Dan James have all either been linked with clubs or are about to enter the final year of their contracts – an exit is likely.
But only if Leeds don’t go up. Promotion is in the bag thanks to Sheffield United’s recent implosion and The Whites will be planning for Premier League survival, opening up a new pool of talent to scour.
Indeed, a higher calibre of player will be open to joining if promoted and Leeds will certainly need to spend. But one player that could sign is available on a free – and has been told to return to England.
Bright Osayi-Samuel urged to make Premier League move
Leeds and Crystal Palace are keen on Bright Osayi-Samuel. The versatile star, who has largely played at right-back for Fenerbahce but can play on either side of the defence or the attack, is available on a free.
Indeed, his contract is about to expire and Osayi-Samuel will certainly have plenty of clubs interested in handing him a deal. Leeds are one of those, and former Barcelona man Sam Okunowo has some advice.
He told Africa Foot that Osayi-Samuel should now join a big league, like the Premier League: “I believe he has already given a lot to the club and it is time for him to move.
