Leeds make approach to sign Evan Ferguson after new West Ham developments but striker rejected Leeds terms
Leeds United are preparing for life in the Premier League with a move for Evan Ferguson being lined up.
The Whites are top of the Championship table with just four matches left to play and it seems nailed on that Premier League football will return to Elland Road.
As a result, Daniel Farke has already started making plans for the summer transfer window as his side will need significant reinforcements if they are to survive.
Leeds make contact over Ferguson deal
Farke has recognised the need for a number nine as the likes of Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph have failed to contribute on a regular basis.
Patrick Bamford looks set for a Leeds exit in the summer as he has struggled to maintain a place in the team, making just 13 appearances in the league.
A report from TEAMtalk (15 April) claims that the Whites have already made contact with Brighton over a deal for Ferguson.
It states that West Ham, where the 20-cap Ireland international is currently on loan, are not planning to make that move permanently, which could open the door for the Yorkshire outfit.
Ferguson would be a great addition for Leeds
Ferguson has struggled with injuries in recent years since breaking through at the AMEX Stadium but if he could find his form again, he would be a great signing.
Farke’s side desperately needs a goalscorer who can find the net at the highest level and the Irishman has proved his ability to contribute, with 13 goals and three assists in 66 appearances in the top-flight.
His loan spell with the Hammers could see him return to full fitness ahead a summer move elsewhere, so his lack of goals at the moment is not as much of a concern given that he is working his way back from injury.
