Nottingham Forest ready to pay requested fee of €10m to sign 19 G/A attacker
Nottingham Forest’s interest in Rio Ave’s Clayton is on the front page of today’s edition of Record.
The report mainly focuses on interest from the Primeira Liga in the striker and they have to battle with Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos.
Record state Nottingham Forest and the Greek club are ‘willing to move forward’ to secure his services in the summer window.
Last summer, Rio Alve signed Clayton on loan from Vasco da Gama and he starred this season, managing 17 goals and two assists from 31 games. They have an option to buy him for €3m and intend to exercise it, likely to make profit through a quick sale.
FC Porto and Benfica have already made contacts for the 26-year-old and Sporting have now joined them. The Lions haven’t yet approached but are willing to make an attempt if there’s an opportunity.
The Primeira Liga trio have to be wary of the competition from Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos. The two clubs are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Rio Ave.
According to the newspaper, Rio Ave won’t sell the Brazilian for less than €10m and both Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and Olympiacos are ‘willing to reach’ the requested fee.
The Evangelos Marinakis connection can make it easier if the Reds want to sign Clayton.
