Goalkeeper ‘determined’ to complete Leeds United transfer switch amid Illan Meslier uncertainty

Leeds United’s search for its future number 1 is hotting up as a Conan Ledesma has revealed he wants a move to Elland Road

After some patchy performances and some devastating mistakes, Illan Meslier looks destined to leave Leeds United in the summer after falling out of favour under Daniel Farke.

A spot between the sticks at the Whites looks to be an attractive option for money, with a host of top-notch keepers being linked with a summer switch. But now new rumours have emerged with one keeper from River Plate reportedly determined to be Farke’s new man.

Meslier has made a series of errors for the Whites during the current campaign, culminating in manager Daniel Farke dropping the 25-year-old in Saturday’s draw against Luton Town.

Farke has been very diplomatic in his comments about the Frenchman but after favouring Karl Darlow, he said: “I work with human beings. For Karl, he is buzzing. For Illan, it’s always a bit difficult to take.

“I think, in general, with a goalkeeper, it’s important you don’t change game to game, even after a few mistakes.”

New reports claim that Conan Ledesma may be ready to make a move. Having only joined River Plate from Cadiz last summer for around £2 million, the 32-year-old has struggled to make an impact only making one appearance this season.

Reports coming from Estadio Deportivo via Spots Witness, claim that the Argentinian isn’t “willing to tolerate” another season keeping the bench warm and will look for a move to Europe.

Ledesma is tied down at the club until 2028 but has a €15 million buy out clause although the club is likely to consider options far below that with his current value sitting at just £3.2 million according to Transfermarkt.

Leeds are reportedly already in talks with Spanish outlet Fichajes claiming negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs but “not yet closed”.
