REPORT:Brendan Rodgers set to welcome dream player for showdown Celtic talks

Celtic are set to sit down for showdown talks with Brendan Rodgers over his future in the off-season, sources have told Football Insider.

The 52-year-old is under contract at Parkhead until June 2026 after returning two years ago.

Rodgers is thriving in his second spell at Celtic and reached the knockout phase of the Champions League earlier this season – where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.

The former Liverpool and Leicester boss insisted last month there had been no conversation about a new deal with the Glasgow giants.

Rodgers could sign long-term Celtic deal this summer

He is expected to hold talks about the future with Celtic chiefs in the summer – with a long-term deal up for grabs if discussions proceed smoothly.

Rodgers is on course to win a domestic treble with the Hoops this term – having won two trebles in his first spell at the club.

He left mid-way through the 2018-19 campaign and won the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021 before returning in 2023 following Ange Postecoglou’s exit.

Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness has told Football Insider (28 February) that Rodgers “would love” to leave Celtic again if he recieves a high-profile offer.

Celtic set sights on multiple summer deals

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 23 March that Celtic are expected to be active during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Kieran Tierney will return to his boyhood club in the summer, with Celtic set to make him the highest-paid player in the squad.

Celtic fans have urged the club to financially back Rodgers this summer as they don’t want him to become frustrated.
