Exclusive: Leeds well placed to agree Nicolas Raskin deal after takeover latest
Rangers being taken over by 49ers Enterprises could make Leeds United’s pursuit of Nicolas Raskin much more straightforward this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Raskin’s form for Rangers this season has been one of few silver linings amid a dismal campaign at Ibrox, and his form in Europe has resulted in both a Belgium call-up and links with a Premier League move.
Those performances and the links which have followed imply that Raskin is ready to make the step up to Premier League level, and as Leeds fight to do the exact same thing, he is on the radar at Elland Road.
The 24-year-old is under contract at Ibrox until 2027, but with Leeds still in the promotion battle despite a slump of form of late, sources have told Football Insider that they are looking to test Rangers’ resolve.
However, 49ers Enterprises’ impending takeover of Rangers could hold the key to any deal Leeds seek to complete for Raskin, providing a seamless transition between two clubs owned under the same umbrella.
Raskin’s rise to become Rangers’ standout player and a Belgian international will leave him chomping at the bit to play in the Premier League next term, and Leeds may be set to roll out the white carpet for him.
49ers Enterprises to faciliate Nicolas Raskin transfer
Rangers may look set for an exciting future under the 49ers’ ownership – something which Leeds are yet to truly realise as long as they remain a Championship club – but that won’t come without sacrifices.
With a decision to be made on Barry Ferguson’s future beyond this season, Rangers will also need to raise funds if they’re to win the race for Lennon Miller, and selling Raskin could facilitate such funds.
