Kyogo Furuhashi;Celtics confirm the return of former player and his renewal of contract with club

It has merely been months since Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic, in the middle of the season, in order to join Rennes for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £10 million. He had been the club’s first-choice striker for three-and-a-half seasons. So, the departure certainly came as a blow for the Hoops but one that they have been able to deal with thanks to the remarkable form of Daizen Maeda this season.

On the other hand, Kyogo has been having a bit of a nightmare since joining Rennes. He has barely played for the Ligue 1 side, mostly being used as a substitute or not even getting a chance to come off the bench on multiple occasions.

Kyogo has not been helped by the fact that Jorge Sampaoli, who was the manager when he signed for Rennes, was sacked days after his arrival. He is clearly not a major part of new boss Habib Beye’s plans.

The desire to participate in the next World Cup with Japan is believed to have been the driving factor behind Kyogo leaving Celtic in order to join Rennes. But if he is to get that call-up, he will need to play a lot more regularly for the Ligue 1 side. Could a return to Celtic be on the cards?

Celtic ready to bring back Kyogo on one condition

There has been talk about a potential Kyogo return to Celtic for the past few weeks now. But there seems to be only one situation in which it could happen.

As reported by Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers and Celtic’s recruitment team will move for Kyogo in the scenario that they strike a deal which is too good to turn down. the club and manager have effectively “moved on” from the Japanese forward.
