DEAL DONE;Rangers has finally made a shock swoop signing Celtics star Greg Taylor

The Rangers legend reckons the left-back can cope with the pressure that would come with switching sides

KRIS BOYD has challenged Rangers to sign Greg Taylor on a summer free from Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers conceded defeat at the weekend in his attempts to keep the Scotland left-back at Parkhead.

The 27-year-old – who has won ten major trophies in six years with Celts – is out of contract at the end of the season.

He will lose first-choice to Kieran Tierney and has been linked with moves to England, the MLS and Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb.

But Boyd, a former Kilmarnock team-mate of Taylor, has urged Gers to make a move for the new dad and keep him in Scotland.

Speaking on Go Ballistic – on the Scottish Sun’s YouTube channel – he said: “If you’re Rangers, would you offer Greg Taylor a contract?

“It wouldn’t be the worst one for me for my club to have a little conversation with him. Could he switch sides in Glasgow?

“I know the rivalry between the two clubs but he’s Scottish and he ticks the boxes. You could ask the question

“Is he a better player than Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz? Well, I think he’s shown for a period of time what he can do.

“This could actually generate funds if they sold one of the left-backs. They are potentially saleable assets.

Greg has shown for a period of time now how consistent he has been. If he’s not going to be at Celtic, he wants to play regularly.

“Greg shows up every single week. He’s probably going to be one of those ones that only when he’s left people will start to appreciate what they had.

“Even when he was at Kilmarnock, we have seen what he brings to a team.
