CONFIRMED DEPARTURE;Nottingham Forest two players suspended for the FA Cup semi-finals due to…

Nottingham Forest are off to Wembley Stadium once again after reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The Reds didn’t do things the easy way against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Although Forest produced a defensive masterclass to take the game to penalties, it was a nerve-enduced night at the AMEX Stadium, with the Reds taking the tie 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Forest did have the best chances in the 90 minutes.

Elliot Anderson was awarded a penalty kick before VAR decided that Peter Bankes had made a clear and obvious error, overturning his decision after consultation with Andy Madley.

Still, Forest are a different animal this season and dug deep in the absence of talisman Chris Wood to set up a Wembley showdown later this month.

Harry Toffolo sends message to Ryan Yates after Forest beat Brighton

The defender was on the bench for Forest last night as the Reds reached the FA Cup semi-final for the first time since 1991.

After Matz Sels had produced two brilliant saves from Jack Hinshelwood and Diego Gomez, it was down to academy graduate Yates to send the travelling fans into delirium.

Yates scored, then sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate with the fan base who simply adore his work rate and commitment to the cause.

Toffolo posted on X: “No one deserves this moment more than Ryan Yates – incredible advocate for this football club.”

Yates was the captain for the game at Brighton last night and whilst his regular position has come into question this season, his commitment to the cause has not.

The midfielder’s penalty oozed composure, and although Bart Verbruggen got a fingertip on the spot kick, he was unable to keep it out.

It’s a moment that will be shown on highlight reels in years to come and Toffolo is right to say that Yates deserves his flowers.
