International defender coy from Nottingham Forest agree future terms and conditions with Leeds United

Republic of Ireland international Andrew Omobamidele is currently on loan at Strasbourg

Andrew Omobamidele says he has yet to make a decision over his long term future amid speculation linking him with a summer move to Leeds United.

A Give Me Sport report states the Whites have added the Nottingham Forest defender to their list of potential defensive targets. The report adds that Omobamidele could be available for less than £10m. United are said to be big admirers of Omobamidele and have been heavily linked with the player in the past two windows.

Omobamidele is currently on loan at Strasbourg until the end of the season, having struggled to make an impression at the City Ground since joining from Norwich City for £11m in 2023. But the French club do have an option to buy Omobamidele on a permanent basis in the summer.

When asked if he has decided where he wants to be next season, Omobamidele told BeIN SPORTS: “I haven’t looked beyond this summer, even though it’s getting close.

My main goal now is to do the best I can here, and we’ll see what happens in the summer when we have to face the situation.”

Things have not gone according to plan for the Republic of Ireland international since his switch to France. Omobamidele, who can be utilised at full-back, centre-half or in midfield, has played just five times for Strasbourg. The 22-year-old is currently sidelined by an Achilles injury.

Central defence is an area of the pitch where United are likely to strengthen regardless of whether they are playing in the Premier League or Championship next season.

Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Max Wober are Daniel Farke’s only recognised senior centre-back options, although Ethan Ampadu can also be deployed there if required. Farke regards central midfield as Ampadu’s best position.
