Exclusive: West Ham tipped to sign Aston Villa star after injury news
The Hammers have had a difficult campaign under both Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter with signings failing to have the desired impact.
The likes of Max Kilman and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were the only summer additions with experience in the league, which may have had a telling impact on form in East London.
With that being said, the signing of an Aston Villa ace in the summer could prove to be a positive move after an injury update at Villa Park.
The Irons have struggled going forward at times this campaign but the lack of defensive stability has also caused issues at the London Stadium
There have been consistent changes in the back line in E20 which haven’t helped as the Hammers have conceded 49 goals in 29 Premier League games.
The signing of an experienced pro like Mings could prove to be exactly what Potter needs right now.
A move could be entirely possible as Unai Emery looks set to welcome Pau Torres back to the fold after missing multiple months through injury.
Former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen has suggested that a move to the London Stadium would be welcomed by Potter and Co.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “Torres is an excellent centre-back, and he will go in ahead of Mings once he’s back from injury.
“Mings can definitely play at a good level in the Premier League. Clubs coming up from the Championship are bound to be asking about signing him.
“Would West Ham sign him? I think they probably would.
“He’s had a good career and I think there’s going to be plenty of clubs interested. It is just unfortunate that he’s behind two very good defenders at Villa right now.“
