SHOCKING NEWS; Elliot Anderson announces his return to former club Newcastle

Elliot Anderson is having an incredible personal campaign in the Premier League – but because of Profit and sustainability rules it’s happening for Nottingham Forest.

The central midfielder joined Forest during the summer transfer window and has been a key performer in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, but that transfer was something the Magpies were forced into.

Eddie Howe’s side had their hands tied due to PSR and FFP and had to offload some players to ensure they avoided a points deduction, with Anderson and Yankuba Minteh being sacrificed by the club.

The footballing world was left surprised when Thomas Tuchel left the 22-year-old out of his recent England squad, showcasing the influence he has been having this season.

However, Newcastle fans have had to watch on with envy in their eyes as the midfielder has impressed with his performances as they have called on the club to re-sign him.

Elliot Anderson could return to Newcastle

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed he thinks Anderson is someone who Newcastle could be “built around” due to his impressive season.

They’ve still got the annoyance of FFP and PSR,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“They’re owned by a Gulf state, but they’re owned by one of the richest people in the world, the sustainability is not a problem for Newcastle.

“The rules have to be looked at, it has to be adapted because they’ve had one of the best periods of their history in certainly in my lifetime anyway.

“And now everyone’s talking about, can they hold on to Bruno?

“Newcastle have won this trophy, what type of players from around the world are they going to attract and who are they going to bring in? And that for me is just the most frustrating thing from an outsider looking in as well.
