Rangers can find their new Igamane in 17-year-old who’s “making waves”
Glasgow Rangers supporters haven’t had much to shout about this season. Victories over Fenerbahçe and then Celtic before the international break were just brief respites in what has been an otherwise dismal campaign.
The emergence of Hamza Igamane has perhaps been one of the brightest aspects of the whole season, with the summer signing settling into life in Glasgow with ease.
His performances have attracted plenty of attention from afar, meaning he could leave the Ibrox side sooner rather than later.
Why Hamza Igamane could leave Rangers
For a transfer fee of just £1.7m, Igamane moved from Morocco to Glasgow last summer, a move which certainly raised a few eyebrows.
Fast-forward several months into March 2025 and the striker has since scored 14 goals across 37 appearances for the Gers, including a stunning last-minute winner against Celtic last week.
Similar in stature to Alfredo Morelos, Igamane is much more flexible, being able to operate as a number ten or even out wide if so required by the manager.
He was recently called up to the senior Morocco squad for their matches against Niger and Tanzania, making his debut against the former on Friday.
With Everton showing interest in the youngster, he could turn out to be the club’s next big sale.
If that happens to be this summer, whoever arrives as the new manager will have some work to do to source a replacement.
They might have money to spend in the summer transfer window, but in terms of a long-term replacement, might Josh Gentles be the ideal solution?
Rangers already have their next Igamane
Gentles has made his way through the academy at Auchenhowie over the years before finally signing his first professional contract with the Gers in February 2023.
He scored the winner in the Scottish Youth Cup final during the 2023/24 season and has impressed for the U18s and B teams over the previous 12 months.
