Newcastle told ‘£40m’ offer for Victor Boniface will be accepted
Newcastle will need to spend at least £40million in a bid to sign Victor Boniface during the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Magpies could sign him as a “potential replacement” for Alexander Isak.
Boniface has been a proven commodity playing for Bayer Leverkusen and has brought a high level of productivity to the Bundesliga side during his time at the club.
He is being seen as a “smart move” for the Magpies and he does have an uncertain future in Germany as he came very close to moving to Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window.
Boniface ended up remaining at Leverkusen after Jhon Duran moved to Al Nasser from Aston Villa, which led to a change in plans for everyone involved in the transfer
The 24-year-old has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League, and that is why Eddie Howe has identified him as a potential target.
Howe wants to take his side to the next level following their EFL Cup victory, with the club also pushing to secure Champions League football next season.
Newcastle will face competition for Victor Boniface
Boniface has won the attention of Newcastle due to his performances, but they are not the only top Premier League team interested in his services.
Chelsea have also been monitoring the Nigeria international as they are in the market for a striker this summer.
The Blues have been relying on Nicolas Jackson as their lead striker, but the former Premier League champions want more competition.
Alexander Isak might need to be replaced
Isak is set to be one of the most talked about players during the summer transfer window due to his high-quality performances and the fact that numerous top Premier League teams are interested in him.
