Manchester United enter race to sign Newcastle United star for cut-price transfer fee

Longstaff will have just a year remaining on his contract in the summer and according to Chronicle Live, both United and Everton have registered their interest in the midfielder.

The report adds that Longstaff would be reluctant to leave his boyhood club but is keen to secure regular playing time.

Longstaff’s sale for Newcastle would also be regarded as ‘pure profit’ in the Premier League’s PSR rules as he came through the club’s academy

Speaking about United’s interest in 2019, Longstaff said: ‘You can sometimes get distracted by the outside noise and maybe for a little bit in the summer I was a bit.

‘And it’s not like they’re talking about little things, they’re talking about things that can change your life really.

‘The expectation is half what I’ve done and it’s probably a good thing.

‘It does just go to show I did impress people when I got my chance last year.

‘So for me it’s about not listening to them and sticking to what I do.’

Newcastle will need to spend at least £40million in a bid to sign Victor Boniface during the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Magpies could sign him as a “potential replacement” for Alexander Isak.

Boniface has been a proven commodity playing for Bayer Leverkusen and has brought a high level of productivity to the Bundesliga side during his time at the club.

He is being seen as a “smart move” for the Magpies and he does have an uncertain future in Germany as he came
