Nottingham Forest have reignite their interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa in the summer transfer window

Nottingham Forest are set to reignite their interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Forest could sign the 28-year-old on a “reduced price” that might be between £15-20million.

Wissa is into the final year of his contract now at Brentford as his deal expires next summer, meaning it could be their final opportunity to cash in on him.

Forest were after Wissa during the January transfer window but saw their bids rejected, yet he still remains high on their list of potential targets.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and has notched 14 goals already this season in the top flight.

The striker is someone who could instantly be slotted into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting lineup and signing him on a reduced price is being seen as “smart business” for the club.

Nottingham Forest want to be established in Europe

It is looking increasingly likely that Forest will be in the Champions League next season as the club are currently third in the Premier League table with nine games remaining.

That is going to significantly boost their transfer funds and Evangelos Marinakis is a very ambitious owner who wants the club to be competing for honours and playing in the Champions League regularly.

He is expected to financially back Santo this summer and sign some top players to ensure that they’re able to compete again next season on all fronts.

Nottingham Forest want to strengthen in attack

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Forest are expected to be looking for as many players as possible this summer, especially in the attacking areas.
