There were two sides to the coin of Rangers’ wild celebrations after being Celtic – but they ultimately showed why they’re not ‘trophy winners’ like their rivals.

That’s according to Michael Gannon on tonight’s Hotline Live who reckons Chris Sutton had a point with his takedown of the post-match scenes

Michael Gannon said: “I don’t think (they went over the top). They’ve had a rough season. European exploits have given them a bit of joy, but they’ve been battered from pillar to post.The fans were at Parkhead for the first time in years in proper numbers, it was a bit of relief

“If you’re a winner, you go over, you take the applause from the fans, and you walk off. The mentality they should have is ‘we’ve got Celtic’s number, yet somehow we’re 13 points behind them. How have we allowed this to happen?’ They should be kicking themselves.

They could go and win again at Ibrox in the next derby, and beat Celtic three times this season, but still finish 10 points behind them in the league. How can that possibly be?

“I understand the emotion of the moment. But it should have been tempered quite quickly with a sense of what might have been, and what they haven’t been able to achieve this season.
