West Ham make official announcement as goalkeeper signs new contract

West Ham may be looking towards the summer transfer window with a large focus on refreshing the first team, but there is plenty of work to be done lower down the chain as well.

Graham Potter is a man known for his ability to work wonders with younger players and bring them up to first-team level, making them an asset for teams.

Since his arrival at the London Stadium, he has made Ollie Scarles a regular member of his squad and this is surely exciting for other young players in East London.

West Ham announce goalkeeper contract

As the Hammers look towards the end of the season and the expiration of contracts, the club have announced via X [20 March] that Mason Terry has extended his contract until 2027.

The goalkeeper has been in the Hammers’ academy since eight years old, working his way up the age groups before being rewarded a first professional contract in 2023.

The 20-year-old has spent the season on loan with National League South side Hornchurch, where he has kept 10 clean sheets so far this season.

There is plenty of work to go if Terry is going to get himself up to the levels required to compete at the top levels, but getting game time under his belt regularly is crucial and his parent club clearly see talent in him.

The key now is to allow the goalkeeper to continue practicing his trade week in, week out while also honing in his talent and translating it to top-end ability.

Potter needs a refreshed West Ham

Since Potter’s arrival at West Ham, the boss has not quite had the desired impact but his side have moved themselves way out of the way of relegation which was the main goal.
