Ibrox-bound Lyall Cameron shares his plan for facing Rangers and names ‘the most important thing’
Technical director Nils Koppen labelled Lyall Cameron a ‘hugely important’ addition for Rangers. Not only in the near future but for the long-term too, the blue side of Glasgow set to become home to a 22-year-old midfielder who, like Connor Barron behind him, arrives having established himself as one of the most exciting homegrown talents in Scotland.
Back in February, after Rangers confirmed the signing of Lyall Cameron on a pre-contract arrangement, former boss Philippe Clement spoke out about the ‘bad sign’ he was desperate not to see from the Scottish Under-21 international.
Cameron, he said, had to continue giving every ounce of blood, sweat and tears for Dundee. It is that sort of commitment Clement’s successor – Barry Ferguson – will be looking out for too when Rangers face off against Tony Docherty’s relegation-threatened side on Saturday March 29th.
As far as Cameron is concerned, the only thing that matters right now is that Dundee remain a top-flight club for 2025/26.
While he prepares to face his future employers, Cameron is keen to go up against his current employers next season in a Rangers shirt too. That will mean he has done his job, with Dundee currently 11th and stuck in the relegation play-off spot.
“I’ll just take it as it comes,” Cameron tells The Courier. “Obviously, it’s going to be a different situation because it’s the club I’m moving to at the end of the season. So, I’ll just take it as it comes.
“That’s the most important thing for me just now. You need to look at every game as it comes. We feel like a lot of them are winnable. We feel like we’ve been underperforming in the last couple of weeks. We’ve just not been getting the rub of the green.”
