SHOCKING NEWS:Newcastle United announces the sudden return of former midfielder

The former Newcastle United midfielder was spotted celebrating amongst the Geordie faithful at Wembley

Elliot Anderson showed his true Newcastle United colours by turning up to support his former teammates in the Carabao Cup Final clash against Liverpool.

The former Magpies midfielder was seen celebrating in the Newcastle end following the final whistle, spotted gesturing towards Jason Tindall, Eddie Howe and Nick Pope as they celebrated on the pitch.

The Toon trio spotted the Magpies academy graduate and gestured back towards him in the stands. Anderson could not hide his emotion as his former teammates walked round the pitch with the trophy in the air.

There was no sign of frustration after leaving the club last summer to join Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest. Howe’s side were forced to cash in on the midfielder, along with fellow young prospect Yankuba Minteh, in order to pass the Premier League’s PSR deadline.

The last thing we want to do, or I want to do as the manager of the club, is to sell academy products who have the potential to play for this team for many years,” said Howe back in January when asked about the current financial constraints imposed on the club.

Elliot was a case in point – it was the last sale we wanted to make. We knew his qualities and he had just broken into the team towards the back end of last season. He had performed really well in a variety of roles for us.

But we were faced with literally no other option in that moment with 48 hours to go, we had to make a decision that we did not want to make. It will always be our last choice to do that.

“But, when you add up everything together and you go, ‘Well, it’s a points deduction and breaching PSR or making a sale, I think you have to make the sale’.”
