‘Eddie Howe to replace Thomas Tuchel with England after Newcastle sack’

Eddie Howe isn’t expected to remain in place at Newcastle for the long haul as the lofty ambitions of the club’s owners will see him out of a job before long, claims Simon Jordan.

Howe will be looking to end the Magpies’ long wait for a major trophy on Sunday (16 March), when his side face Premier League leaders Liverpool at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Despite that Jordan believes that the ambitions of the club’s Saudi Arabian owners the PIF will go beyond simply winning a domestic cup competition.

As a result, he feels that Howe may not have long left at Newcastle, and has already identified where his next job might be if he’s sacked by the end of next season.

Under Howe, the North East club managed to secure qualification for the Champions League back in the 2023, although they failed to qualify for this season’s edition of the competition.

Despite Newcastle being forced into sales by PSR regulations back in the summer, Howe once again has the club competing for a European spot this season.

Even so, there are no guarantees that he will succeed with that, meaning Howe is said to be under pressure at Newcastle ahead of that Carabao Cup final, despite having the understanding of the board.

Regardless of that, Jordan does believe that the ambitions of the club’s owners will outgrow what the 47-year-old is able to deliver for the club.

At that point, the former Crystal Palace chairman believes Howe could move in to replace Thomas Tuchel as England manager, with the German only set to take charge of the Three Lions later this month.

After being asked on talkSPORT what it might mean for Howe if Newcastle do not qualify for Europe this season, Jordan said:
