Everton defender set for summer exit after Cameron Carter-Vickers transfer news

Everton could replace one defender with Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.

It looks set to be a summer of change on Merseyside as David Moyes prepares to lead Everton into Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

The Friedkin Group are planning major changes off the field, with Angus Kinnear set to join from Leeds United and take over as Everton CEO.

However, once Kinnear does arrive, the 47-year-old could have his work cut out for him.

Jarrad Branthwaite’s long-term Everton future is up in the air, while Michael Keane is out of contract at the end of the season.

And it looks as though at least one of those defenders could be moving on after a recent transfer update on Carter-Vickers.

Everton want to sign Carter-Vickers from Celtic

As reported by TBR Football (7 March), Carter-Vickers is a target for Everton ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Moyes’ side are eyeing a move for the former Tottenham defender after his impressive displays in Scotland this season.

As a result, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – expects at least one defender currently playing for the Toffees to move on at the end of the season.

“Moyes started his career at Celtic,” King said.

They’re obviously going to get rid of one of their centre-backs, that is for sure.

“Therefore, if this player is potentially coming in, he will act as a potential replacement.

“If Carter-Vickers is the right man for the job, then whatever he is going to cost will be of Moyes’ interest.”

Moyes could benefit from Carter-Vickers’ arrival at Everton

Carter-Vickers has impressed for Celtic this season and does have previous experience of English football. Therefore, his arrival could be beneficial to Moyes as he looks to rebuild the Everton squad in his image.
