Ange Postecoglou sack decision reached for Tottenham – ‘They’ve tried everything’
Tottenham will reach a sympathetic decision on Ange Postecoglou as their manager next season after his major struggles this term, says Michael Dawson.
Despite an impressive performance from Kevin Danso, Spurs suffered a shock defeat to AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (6 March), after a calamitous own-goal from Lucas Bergvall.
The loss came on the same day Postecoglou had been nominated for Premier League manager-of-the-month.
The Australian boss has suffered a difficult second season in charge in North London, with his side sat 13th in the league, having finished fifth last year.
Tottenham will keep Postecoglou having tried other managers
Postecoglou has been under threat of losing his job for much of the season, and fans were less than impressed with the result against AZ.
Despite being under pressure, former Spurs defender, Dawson, believes the former Celtic boss should not be judged until he has all his players back from injury, saying on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (2.06pm): “I think they will. Where do you go to? They’ve tried everything.
They tried Jose [Mourinho], they’ve tried [Antonio] Conte, let’s not forget Nuno [Espirito Santo] was in there and the fans weren’t happy with that when he came in, and he got off to a good start but he’s very defensive. We’ve seen the job he’s doing at Forest.
“So for me, get everyone back [from injury] and if Spurs are in this position with his whole team, full team, best team out there, I don’t see him being there. But he’s not had that all season.”
Ange Postecoglou must take ownership of Tottenham injury crisis
Football Insider Verdict
Despite a busy transfer window, one departure from Tottenham went under the radar, as Geoff Scott, head of medicine and sports science, left the club after a 20-year spell following a clash with Postecoglou.
