Brendan Rodgers could be tempted by another Celtic exit

Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to leave Celtic again in search of a new challenge, according to Ally McCoist.

The 52-year-old left Celtic Park in 2019, having won three consecutive Scottish Premiership titles, before joining Leicester City in the Premier League and remaining at the King Power Stadium for four years.

McCoist told Football Insider that he believes Rodgers could leave the Hoops for a second time, though he does not expect that to happen until he gives the Champions League one more shot.

Celtic continue to rise under Brendan Rodgers’ leadership

Celtic’s dramatic draw with Bayern Munich last month, inevitably seeing them knocked out of the Champions League on aggregate, raised eyebrows all over Europe.

The Hoops have usually struggled in European competitions, but something clicked this season, and the team were just seconds from forcing extra time against one of the biggest teams in the competition.

Rodgers is ultimately key to what the Scottish side can achieve outside of Scotland, but with Rangers currently showing zero fight in domestic competitions, some believe he could be enticed by a new challenge.

Bundesliga giants Bayern have already been suggested for Rodgers, and though McCoist admits a big opportunity could be enticing he cannot see a move anytime soon as the Hoops continue to thrive under the current manager’s leadership.

The Hoops go from strength to strength in Brendan Rodgers’ second term

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, via talkSPORT BET, McCoist said: “I think he could. Yeah, of course he could. But then again, he’s probably quite happy where he is at this moment in time. He hasn’t got any real competition, let’s be honest about it.

And by the way, that’s not his fault. That’s not his problem, because his team are effectively doing the business, you know against everybody, in a matter that he’ll be delighted with.
