Agent insists ‘we were right’ to reject Nottingham Forest transfer
Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Edoardo Bove in the summer transfer window
Edoardo Bove’s agent has detailed how close the midfielder came to moving to Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window – and why he instead opted to stay in Serie A.
The 22-year-old was linked with a transfer to the City Ground, with the Reds said to be his ‘hottest’ suitors as Roma looked to move him on.
Bove insisted he wanted to go to Fiorentina rather than Forest and his agent Diego Tavano said the possibility of going to the Reds but being loaned out to Olympiacos did not appeal.
Speaking to Giallorossi.net, Tavano said. “August 30 was a day that neither Edoardo nor I will ever forget.
We found ourselves with our backs to the wall when faced with the possibility of moving to Nottingham Forest, with a possible loan to Olympiacos, given that the owner is the same. It wasn’t an option that convinced us.
“Fiorentina was the right destination, so much so that I had been in contact with the general manager Pradè for weeks. We pushed in that direction, and friction arose. We didn’t understand why Edoardo had to be sold for such a low fee.
He considers Rome his home and loves its fans, but when he understood the club’s intentions, he determinedly chose Fiorentina. And in hindsight, we were right.”
Tavano has not closed the door on the idea of a Premier League move in the future – but seemingly not to Nottingham.
He added: “He and his girlfriend Martina are very close to London, a city they love. The Premier League could be an option for the future, but at the moment we are not thinking about anything definitive. We will see later.”
In December Bove collapsed on the pitch in the game against Internazionale, he hopes to return to competitive football in June.
