Tottenham keen on £41m ‘complete’ striker Newcastle are eyeing as Alexander Isak replacement

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the midst of a rebuilding job and, though it hasn’t been plain sailing, there are signs of progress under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham have shown they can beat anyone on their day and, as the injury crisis eases and the squad becomes more accustomed to Postecoglou’s methods, they’ll become even better.

Spurs could also be busy in the summer transfer window in pursuit of more top talents who can help propel the team back into the upper echelons of the Premier League table.

Now, according to reports, Tottenham have set their sights on a £41million striker who is also sought after by Newcastle United in case Alexander Isak leaves in the summer.

Tottenham and Newcastle join Samu Aghehowa race

The player in question is Samu Omorodion Aghehowa, who has been in fine form for Porto this season.

Tottenham are considering a move for the 20-year-old forward along with Bayern Munich, according to CaughtOffside.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have a ‘growing appreciation’ for Aghehowa as they look for alternatives to Isak if he departs St James’ Park in a big-money move.

Newcastle don’t want to sell Isak, but contingency plans are being made just in case, as suggested by the report.

Aghehowa is also said to be a target for Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa, and he is reported to have a €50million (£41million) price tag.

What Samu Aghehowa could bring to Tottenham

Aghehowa is a tall, physical and rapid centre-forward with many key traits including acceleration, finishing skills, aerial prowess, and superb work-rate.

The 20-year-old’s tally for Porto this season reads 31 appearances, 19 goals and three assists. He also won his maiden Spain cap in November last year.

Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig noted how Aghehowa is “one of Europe’s most prolific players this season”, with a goal every 88 minutes as of 12 December 2024.
