Former Newcastle United trio who were managed by Alan Pardew reunite years after leaving the club

Alan Pardew welcomed a slew of players to Newcastle United in his four years as manager.

Some players could never hit the heights they were destined to reach under his tutelage but went on to be successful elsewhere.

Alan Pardew oversaw a ‘French revolution’ at Newcastle United when he welcomed several stars from across the channel to Tyneside in the 2010s. A few players were deemed successful while others fell by the wayside.

Mehdi Abeid loved playing at Newcastle and was given a chance to impress under Pardew at a young age. However, the midfielder was shunned by Steve McClaren when he became Toon boss in 2015.

From a youth perspective, certain players never got a shot under Pardew’s management. Fraser Forster never played for Newcastle but went on to have a successful career, winning several trophies and playing Champions League football.

With Pardew’s time at Newcastle looked back on with mixed emotions, three players he managed have reunited in an unlikely setting.

Three former Newcastle players reunite in the UAE

One player Pardew signed was none other than Papiss Cisse, who was sensational in his first season at the club. The former Senegal international scored 44 goals and bagged eight assists in his four-and-a-half seasons with the Magpies, including 13 Premier League goals in his first 14 appearances for the club, helping Newcastle finish fifth and qualify for the Europa League.

Cisse still loves Newcastle and has publicly stated how much he loved his time on Tyneside. He was able to roll back the years after a photo on Instagram revealed that he had linked up with two former Toon stars Steven Taylor and Danny Simpson in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Taylor now resides.
