Chris Sutton reveals how he’s angered Neil McCann with what he told Rangers coach

Chris Sutton admits he’s angered Rangers interim coach Neil McCann with comments about his personality.

The former Gers winger has returned to Ibrox as part of the temporary coaching staff under Barry Ferguson.

The new team came in to replace Philippe Clement who faced the sack after the frustrating home defeat against St Mirren on 22 February.

In their first game in charge, the new interim staff helped the Light Blues to a comeback victory against Kilmarnock on Wednesday (26 February).

After this positive result, one thing has been noted by former Celtic man Sutton which left McCann angry.

This represented the perfect start for Ferguson in the dugout in Govan but things may not prove to be so rosy as time goes on.

Writing for the Daily Record (28 February), Sutton has admitted that interim coach McCann can cut a highly-frustrated figure regardless of his footballing knowledge.

Revealing what makes the 50-year-old so aggressive, he said: “Having worked with Neil [McCann] at times, you can tell he’s a bright guy, who is tactically very aware.

“He’s an angry man at times and I’ve told him so – but he even gets angry when I say that.”

Rangers could benefit from McCann anger

One complaint of Clement is that his press conferences became frustrating for his blind positivity, which was utilised regardless of the result.

Sometimes players just need to be told how poor they have been and exactly what they have done wrong to leave the Gers in the position they’re in.

That could have proved to be the case against Kilmarnock where the second half performance was much improved from the opening 45 minutes.

This allowed the Light Blues to turn the tide to come back from behind to secure a much-needed three points to hopefully end the rot in Govan.

With important Europa League clashes against Fenerbahçe coming up, this sort of performance will be needed once again.
