Troy Deeney predicts when Leeds United will be confirmed as promoted to the Premier League

With Leeds United now five points clear of Sheffield United after Monday night’s incredible win, The Whites are closer than ever to securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds sit on a whopping 75 points after just 34 games and with 36 points to play for, Daniel Farke’s men look good to go and secure a century come the final day when The Whites go to struggling Plymouth.

A total of 90 points normally sees clubs promoted and that is just five wins away for a side that have gone behind in games against Sunderland and Sheffield United, but shown the resilience needed to win.

Five ahead of Sheffield United, seven in front of third-placed Burnley and 12 separating them from Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland, Leeds are well-placed to secure promotion. Troy Deeney has now had his say.

Troy Deeney predicts when Leeds United will confirm promotion

With four games left until the international break, Leeds take on West Brom on Saturday followed by matches against Portsmouth, Millwall and QPR. Another 12 points would see Leeds climb to 87 points.

Speaking to TalkSPORT on Tuesday morning (25/02, 6.05AM), Championship icon Deeney thinks it will only be a matter of four weeks before Leeds can confirm themselves as promoted to the Premier League.

“They should be done in four weeks time. You’re not going to change the manager, he’s been in the Premier League before with Norwich and the Premier League needs Leeds,” Deeney said about Leeds.

Who is the better side – Leeds this season, or last?

Last season, Leeds often had to rely on individuals. Crysencio Summerville or Georginio Rutter would often drag Leeds through games, capable of magic in attack. A comeback at Norwich springs to mind.

This season, the collective is much more impressive. Leeds may lack a £40m player in Rutter or a player in Summerville that won the Championship Player of the Season, but they have a more-balanced outfit.
