Philippe Clement is a ‘broken man’ as Rangers flops accused of ‘chucking it’ and letting boss down

Philippe Clement looked BROKEN after Rangers’ latest setback – and it’s difficult to see how he survives.

That’s the view of Neil McCann who doesn’t see much of way back for Clement after their defeat to St Mirren. A 2-0 loss against the Buddies came just two weeks after one of the most embarrassing results in their history against Queen’s Park and, against the backdrop of a proposed takeover funded by the San Francisco 49ers, it seems like change in the dugout at Ibrox may be imminent.

Whether that’s tonight, tomorrow, or weeks down the line remains to be seen. But McCann watched Clement’s body language closely when he spoke after the game, and reckons he looked ‘broken’. Speaking on Sportscene, the former Ibrox star said: “I’m really not sure he survives this one. He looked a broken man at the end of that. He looked really down.

Sometimes you’ve got to change in-play as well. Sometimes changing personnel, but not how you’re playing does not give you a better outcome. There’s lots there contributing to Philippe coming under pressure, and I think he’ll come under pressure massively tonight.”

“It comes after Ian McCall said on BBC Sportsound he fears for Clement’s future. He said in the immediate aftermath: “If I was Philippe Clement, I’d be worried because some of the players looked like they’d chucked it. Woeful. Truly woeful.”

It has been coming for months now, but finally, Stewart and Fraser Thornton surely have no choice but to pull the trigger on the Rangers manager tonight.

Defeat to Queen’s Park is one thing, but to constantly fail in the Scottish Premiership is another, especially after Celtic lost at Hibernian on the same day.
