Dave King returns to be Rangers saviour again after £50m funding claim

Rangers modern history has been as volatile as any club in world football; from administration to domestic league success, a European final, and the club needing a rebuild again.

In 2015, the right people arrived at Ibrox as Blue Knights to stop the years of neglect, but the time is right for change with the takeover bid by the San Francisco 49ers consortium.

Dave King has tempered the excitement that has grown over the week, however, the former Rangers chairman has proven to be a man of his word.

Dave King returns to be Rangers saviour again?

King voiced his displeasure at the current board earlier this season and even offered his services for a period of time to turn things around.

After being rebuffed, the South Africa based business man has taken a different path to set the club on the right track with previous comments suggesting that he has known what needed to be done for a long time:

“I estimate that the Club needs a minimum of £50million to achieve our short to medium term objectives but that could never be raised under the present board structure,” said King about change.

“The funds we need must come from a far wider and wealthier base and from parties that will be willing to invest more (over time) to take the Club forward and to become a modern age football club.”

King finds the perfect match for Rangers’ rebuild

The 49ers Enterprises group, plus the rest of the consortium, won’t want to just throw money in Rangers without seeing a return. They are successful business people for a reason.

What they are seeing though, is an opportunity. An opportunity to build a successful business.

If Rangers are successful on the pitch, money will be made off it.

Fans will be happy and shareholders will be happy.
