Leicester City ‘chasing’ €12m winger but on one condition

Leicester are in competition with some of the biggest teams in Europe in the race for the signature of Austrian international Patrick Wimmer.

The Wolfsburg winger is reportedly keen on a move away from the German side with The Foxes attempted to get a deal over the line in January but it is now claimed will look to the summer to bring the 23-year-old on board.

However, with the youngster signed onto a contract until 2027 and with the player alleged to be one of the targets manager Ralph Hasenhüttl wants to develop, they may have to fork out an inflated price with his price on Transfermarkt hovering around €12m.

Reports from German outlet Bild, believe the club are asking for €20 million a large investment that may put City off depending on their position at the end of the season with the Foxes needing to stay up to have any chance of competing with the two Italian giants.

Although van Nistelrooy is reported to like the Austrian winger, the Foxes’ aren’t short of options out wide with Stephy Mavididi, Kasey McAteer, Jordan Ayew, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, and Facundo Buonanotte all being played under Ruud, while Bilal El Khannouss even played off the left flank in the Dutchman’s first few games.

The winger is in and out of the Wolfsburg squad only starting in around half of his 18 appearances in the Bundesliga this season. Despite his lack of game time he has still managed to create four assists and score one himself.

David Beckham missed England’s opening penalty before Costa also failed to convert for Portugal.

The game turned on its head when ex-Fox Darius Vassell stepped up and saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Ricardo.

The keeper then took a spot-kick off his own, which sent Portugal into the semi-finals and England crashing out.
