Tottenham injury exclusive: Dominic Solanke surgery claim shared after setback

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke is out longer than first feared with a knee injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he was initially expected to be back in training by mid-February, but that timeline has now been extended.

Solanke, 27, was last seen in action for Spurs over a month ago, in the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

The former Bournemouth forward suffered two different injury setbacks this season and the current one appears like it’s going to linger on for a few more weeks.

It’s understood that despite the timeline being extended, he will not be requiring surgery on his knee.

Discussing the state of play with Solanke exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

Based on the mechanism of the injury, knee twisting per Ange, this sounds like either a Grade 2 ligament injury or a meniscus injury,” he said.

Initially, it sounded like would’ve been back in training by mid-February but he’s now set to be out longer than expected initially and does not seem likely to return until March.

Tottenham need Dominic Solanke to be firing on all cylinders

While the England international has hit double figures for goals in all competitions, he has not been the lethal force in front of goal like he was at Bournemouth.

For starters, he is underperforming his xG which is never a good sign for a forward at a club aiming to qualify for the Champions League

Dr Rajpal Brar claims that he is expected to return in March but then it might take him a few more games before he gets back in his rhythm.

Spurs will be hoping that he can end the season with 20 goals in all competitions and that could potentially help them challenge for the Europa League and finish as high as possible in the Premier League.
