Rangers best player have decided to leave and never return

Speaking at last year’s AGM, Rangers shareholder and former chairman Alistair Johnston revealed that he held a lunch with Sir Jim Ratcliffe with regards multi-club partnerships.

”I come from an American sports business where it’s all about entertainment,” said Johnston, addressing shareholders in December. “You don’t have to win. I know there is interest.

“I was in Nice and had lunch with several friends and directors there and the owner there is Jim Ratcliffe.

We’re looking at whether club formations can be an option for us. We’ll look for Patrick Stewart (Rangers CEO) to provide advice on that.”

Rangers exploring multi-club partnerships

US-money has begun flowing into football over the last decade or so with several top Premier League sides backed by the American dollar.

The 49ers enterprise group already have substantial investment in American sports with the group completing a £170m takeover of Leeds United last season.

As Rangers News explained, should the 49ers takeover go through as planned it should strengthen links between Rangers and Leeds United.

There is also background interest from Austrian energy drinks giant Red Bull, who took a minority stake in Leeds United recently.

Conceptually, it appears Rangers are open to the idea of being part of a multi-club model or partnership, with Leeds United potentially the first step towards this.
