Premier League table without VAR errors will leave West Ham’s owners terrified
Mathematically West Ham could still be relegated but the reality is the club could and should be perilously close to the drop.
West Ham’s current malaise started on January 1st 2024 and shows no signs of abating.
It all started under former Hammers boss David Moyes.
Things worsened under Julen Lopetegui despite the club spending £155m on nine new signings.
And it has continued under West Ham’s third manager in nine months, Graham Potter.
Things have been so unbelievably bad for so long now that many Hammers fans may have lost track.
West Ham United won just five of their 25 games under Moyes in the first half of 2024.
There have been only eight wins from 28 games since under Lopetegui and Potter.
That means West Ham have won just 13 of their last 53 games since January 1st 2024. Let that sink in.
Premier League table without VAR errors published
The dismal record is less than one win per month since the Hammers ended 2023 with three straight Premier League wins over Wolves, Man United and Arsenal.
West Ham’s record of 13 wins from 53 games is nailed on relegation form.
The Hammers have been fortunate the abysmal statistic is split over two seasons.
But in actual fact this season could and should have been much worse than it already is.
Because the Premier League table without VARerrors will leave West Ham’s owners terrified.
West Ham are currently 16th in the Premier League table with 13 games to go.
Basement side Saints are already effectively down and have been for some time.
But with a 10-point cushion on 18th and 19th placed Ipswich and Leicester, the Hammers are under no real threat of relegation.
That could well change in the coming weeks if Potter doesn’t start to put some results on the board.
