How German newspaper rated Celtic players – 2 named as best on pitch last night…
Celtic were awfully unfortunate on Tuesday evening as they went out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had put in a really good performance and at one stage it felt like they should have been several goals ahead of the Bundesliga club, but an injury time strike from Alphonso Davies cancelled out Nicolas Kuhn’s opener and was enough to dump Celtic out.
Whilst most of the focus in Germany has been on Bayern Munich, and specifically manager Vincent Kompany, Bild also rated Celtic players.
Whilst most ratings are out of 10, or sometimes 5, Bild use the German school grading system. 1 means very good, 2 is good, 3 is average, 4 is passable but still lacking, 5 is deficient and 6 is insufficient. A 6 is the lowest possible grade and, taking it back to the school grades, it means that not only were things not up to standard, but there was even a failure to understand the basics.
Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda both got 2s, the best scores on the pitch. Every other Celtic player was given a 3 and so was manager Brendan Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany got a 5, along with Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae and Josip Stanišić, with those three seen as the worst of the lot.
