Newcastle United think they are set to sign wonderkid on a free transfer this summer with deal ‘almost there
Newcastle United are already working on summer signings after a very quiet January transfer window.
The Magpies opted against making any signings. Newcastle tried to sign Abdukodir Khusanov, but missed out to Manchester City as PSR continued to hold Eddie Howe’s side back.
That is why Paul Mitchell is changing the way that Newcastle United operate, with the club eager to bolster their youth ranks.
Newcastle are signing Vakhtang Salia in the summer, and the hope is that he will blossom into a Premier League star. Eddie Howe believes Salia is a talented player, and the Georgian attacker is not the only youngster who looks set to arrive at St James’ Park this summer.
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United are expected to complete a deal to sign Antonio Cordero from Malaga
The 18-year-old attacker is in the final few months of his Malaga contract, and is now on course to become a Newcastle United player in the summer.
“Newcastle firmly think a deal is almost there,” he said.
“Obviously you cannot say for definite until he is holding that black and white shirt up.
“He’s a bright prospect. Newcastle are not bringing him in to be a first-team player straight away. You never know how quickly these players can progress. Does he stay with the Under-21s or do they loan him out? Obviously they will assess all of those options once he arrives.
“They are signing a lot of young players at the minute. They haven’t been producing a lot from the youth system, which is something they are aiming to address.”
He will hopefully go on to achieve his potential in a black and white shirt, and to do so the club must decide what is next for him when he arrives in the summer.
