Philippe Clement ‘pay-per-view’ termination jibe made amid Rangers frenzy

Rangers supporters are growing frustrated as Patrick Stewart refuses to pull the trigger on Philippe Clement’s time in charge at Ibrox.

The Gers were completely embarrassed when being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Queen’s Park, losing to a single Seb Drozd goal in front of the Ibrox crowd.

It has already been suggested by Peter Martin that it could cost as much as £1.2million to part ways with the Belgian, which is highly unlikely given the ongoing financial situation in Glasgow.

But Hugh Keevins looks to have found a creative way of raising those funds to cut ties with Clement before he can see out his lengthy contract at Ibrox.

Rangers to terminate Philippe Clement’s contract

Writing via the Daily Record [16 February], Keevins said: “When there’s a word famine, such as the news blackout from the club immediately after Rangers’ cup elimination, it leads to a frenzy to hear what the manager has to say in his next public appearance.

“If Rangers had put Clement’s press conference on pay-per-view TV they would have made enough money to finance the termination of his lengthy contract.

“What happened against Queen’s Park gets worse the more you drill it down. I’d forgotten that, in the round prior to meeting Rangers at Ibrox, the Spiders had been taken to extra-time by Montrose at home.”

Ibrox faithful frustrations becoming louder at Ibrox

Despite a positive run of results in recent weeks, and some decent performances in the Europa League to advance to the knockout stages, all that good work has disappeared.

Clement looked to be covering the cracks in the wallpaper with the Light Blues’ exploits in Europe, with his team still unable to close the gap on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

His time at Ibrox could be well and truly over if the Gers cannot bypass Hearts.
