Philippe Clement sack: Rangers manager hangs on by fingertips ahead of Hearts
Philippe Clement is under increasing pressure to keep his job at Ibrox as Rangers prepare for a trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts.
Rangers are enduring a miserable campaign, but also a dismal period in their history with it looking worryingly likely that they will end the campaign without any silverware.
A shock 1-0 defeat to Queen’s Park ended Rangers’ hopes of a Scottish Cup run, while defeat in the final of the League Cup saw Celtic lift the trophy.
With a 13-point gap present in the league, Clement is facing the heat as a result with a fresh sack update emerging ahead of the clash at Tynecastle on Sunday.
Philippe Clement on brink of sack ahead of Hearts encounter
According to the Daily Record, in its print edition (15 February, back page), Clement is “clinging to his job by his fingertips” due to the wretched season he has spearheaded at Ibrox.
Should Rangers suffer defeat against Hearts, Clement could be sacked sooner rather than laterand it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if it were to happen.
Very few positives have emerged from the current campaign and the Light Blues are only going in one direction under his stewardship.
Rangers need a win v Hearts
The Light Blues are almost in a Catch-22 situation ahead of their trip to Tynecastle. Win, and Clement seemingly buys himself some additional time. Lose, and the long-standing question of why he is still in charge will emerge yet again.
Changes are needed at Ibrox across various different areas of the club, with the playing squad, managerial situation and even the board decisions needing a serious revamp if Rangers are to get back to competing at the top.
That makes the upcoming summer one of the biggest in recent history for the Gers
