Philippe Clement sack: Patrick Stewart stance emerges post Rangers meeting
Patrick Stewart has explained the decision why Rangers decided to keep Philippe Clement and not sack him.
The Gers chief assumed his position as the Chief Executive Officer in mid December and has had some major decisions to make.
Philippe Clement does not appear in immediate danger of the sack at Rangers
Stewart met with the Rangers Fan Advisory Board who released this in their statement: “PS reiterated that the decision to retain Philippe Clement as manager was not a financially driven decision, rather it was recognition there was so much else to fix in the football department.”
The CEO’s comments and the Gers board’s decision to keep the manager signal a strong vote of confidence in his leadership, despite the team’s recent underwhelming performances and lack of trophies.
By emphasising the need to “fix” other aspects of the club’s football operations, the senior figure is effectively communicating that the board is looking at a holistic improvement rather than a quick managerial change.
Patrick Stewart does little to qualm the supporters’ frustrations
This stance is reinforced by the dialogue with the fans, which not only demonstrates transparency but also an intent to align the supporters’ expectations with club strategy.
Given this context, the likelihood of the Belgian being sacked in the short term appears minimal.
The board’s backing implies they believe in his ability to turn around the team’s fortunes once these foundational issues are addressed.
This commitment to the manager could foster a stable environment, in their view, potentially allowing for better team cohesion and performance in the upcoming seasons.
