Celtic fans react to Philippe Clement’s decision on resignation
It is safe to say that the Rangers reached the lowest point of their season at the weekend when they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Championship side, Queen’s Park. It was their first win over the Ibrox side in the competition since 1882 and the first in any since 1948. It is safe to say that Celtic fans will want to see Philippe Clement remain as manager and create a lot more unwanted history moving forward.
We have seen the Rangers show the exit door to Mick Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst when their team was in a much better state. Yet, Clement remains in the Ibrox hot seat.
One would have to imagine that it has to do something with the long-term contract that the club handed Clement earlier this season. When it comes to the Rangers’ fanbase, the majority of them have given up on the Belgian manager and understandably so.
There have been calls for him to resign following the Scottish Cup exit at the hands of lower-league opposition. But when asked about the suggestion and whether he would consider his own position, Clement clearly said in a video posted by PLZ Soccer:
“No, totally not.”

It would be safe to say that Celtic fans were delighted with that statement. The comment section of the video was filled with them asking for Clement to stay on as Rangers manager.
One has to wonder how long the Rangers can wait before making a decision on Clement’s future. There seems to be an inevitability about it at the moment.
Especially now that Steven Gerrard has suddenly become available once again after parting ways with Al-Ettifaq recently. Let’s see how it plays out over the coming week and months and who eventually ends up at Ibrox.
