Philippe Clement name ‘put forward’ for Belgium in Rangers managerial twist

Philippe Clement could potentially be the next Belgium manager amid links to the Rangers boss.

The former Monaco head coach is claimed to be one of the favourites for the Belgian national team’s hot seat [The Rangers Review], who are now without a manager after Domenico Tedesco’s dismissal.

Ibrox News understand that the Red Devils’ FA are yet to approach the 50-year-old and he’s unlikely to leave the Gers mid-season.

Clement has managed to quell the noise around his future at the Glaswegian outfit after some decent results of late.

Philippe Clement to be considered by Belgian FA

Vincent Mannaert could potentially recommend the Bears’ head coach to be in Belgium’s hot seat, Billy Dodds says.

The Red Devils’ new sporting director worked with the former Monaco boss during his time at Club Brugge.

Mannaert may put Clement’s name forward as they search for Tedesco’s successor.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (7 February), Dodds said: “There’s talks still of Clement being the Belgian manager. People put two and two together. Mannaert is in the Belgian FA. So you would think he would be trying to put his name forward.”

Rangers to lose Philippe Clement to Belgium

Rangers appointed the 50-year-old head coach last season, and after an impressive start to his tenure in Glasgow, things turned sour for him.

The Belgian manager had a poor spell initially in the current campaign, and the Ibrox faithful wanted to see him get sacked.

With the uncertainty within the Gers’ hierarchy, Clement was seemingly handed a reprieve, and he has managed to turn things around since Patrick Stewart’s appointment.

There have been protests directed towards the Belgian manager by some fans recently as well, but he looks to be safe for the time being.
