Celtic tipped to sign Brendan Rodgers’ former Leicester City favourite

Brendan Rodgers’ time at Leicester City might not have ended on a high but overall, it was a success and exceeded most expectations. The Northern Irishman had them in a top four race on a couple of occasions. He also won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with the Foxes. Eventually, he was shown the exit door though and ended up making a return to Celtic in the summer of 2023.

Celtic have been winning under the management of Rodgers once again. They won the Premiership and Scottish Cup double last season and have already gotten their hands on the League Cup this time around.

On the other hand, their success in the Champions League is promising as well. They have made it to the knockout phase for the first time since 2013, where they will face Bayern Munich.

Unfortunately, the ambition shown by the club in the winter transfer window did not match their recent results on the pitch. They did not even bring in a replacement for Kyogo, who left for Rennes.

Kelechi Iheanacho was one of the players they were linked with but a move failed to materialise. Instead, he went out on loan to Middlesbrough.

But John Hartson believes that Iheanacho is a player worth keeping an eye on. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the former Celtic player told Go Radio:

I think when you worked with a player, previously, then you know his character, his strengths and weaknesses.

“Certainly, I think Kelechi Iheanacho was very good at Leicester. I think he is one of many that Brendan could possibly sign. I like the boy. I thought he was powerful. Good player and scored goals. Maybe that link-up, then everybody will get onto that link-up, with Iheanacho and Brendan.
