I will not play again: Tottenham key player has decided to quit due to…

Ange Postecoglou could have just hours remaining as Tottenham manager after being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Liverpool on Thursday.

The Australian has been under pressure for months, but with Spurs still battling in the EFL Cup, FA Cup and Europa League, he still had a slight grip on his role in North London.

That one thread may have just unravelled, however, after an abysmal display from his team, all the way from goalkeeper to star winger Dejan Kulusevski, and it may be time up for the manager after the 4-0 loss.

Despite travelling to Anfield with a one-goal advantage on 6 February, thanks to a single goal from Lucas Bergvall in the first leg, goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah overturn the deficit before the hour mark.

While injuries can certainly be used as an excuse for some of the performances, the remaining players should still be talented enough to at least compete and put on a show. That was far from the truth.

While Yves Bissouma made a grave error for the Reds’ opening goal, the player was replaced at the same time as him, Pape Sarr, was just as poor if not even worse.

The 22-year-old’s form has dropped significantly in recent weeks, and that was increasingly noticeable as Liverpool took control of the EFL Cup semi-final second leg.

With just 23 touches in 57 minutes, he had far fewer touches than Antonin Kinsky, who finished the match on 42 touches and also experienced a horrific game in between the sticks [FotMob]

Sarr did manage to win 100 per cent of his tackles but when it comes to duels, he won just 40 per cent on the ground and zero per cent in the air, losing all three of his aerial attempts.
